Alternative Waxham Barn Wedding | Norfolk Wedding Photographer

Emma & Michael | August 13th 2025

I was so honoured when Emma asked me to be her Waxham Barn wedding photographer. This alternative wedding at Waxham Barn in Norfolk felt particularly special, as I’ve known Emma since primary school. Emma is also my nail tech, and at every appointment, we chatted about wedding planning and shared our excitement as her big day approached.

This was my first wedding at Waxham Barn, and I couldn’t wait to see the venue. One of its highlights is that the beach is a five minute drive away – perfect for couple portraits. The wedding party got ready nearby at the Dairy Barns, which meant I could capture both bridal and groom prep. They enjoyed a relaxed morning, filled with laughter and a few emotional moments during gift-giving.

Rustic Barn Wedding in Norfolk

Their ceremony took place inside the barn, where soft fabric draped over wooden beams and rustic rugs lined the aisle. Afterwards, guests lined up outside for confetti and group photos. The warm August weather set the scene perfectly for garden games in the courtyard. The VW Campervan photobooth quickly became a firm favourite among guests.

I loved the decor inside the barn. The wedding stylists gave it a rustic, boho feel, complete with festoon lights decorating the bar. Guests could apply transfer tattoos at a tattoo station, and enjoy cocktails from the bar. Emma and Michael chose a vinyl record for guests to sign, instead of a traditional guestbook – such a brilliant idea! They picked Metallica – Nothing Else Matters – which later became their first dance song.

Long banquet tables with wicker chairs for the newlyweds set the scene for heartfelt speeches, while laughter filled the room. An ice cream van served dessert – exactly what everyone needed on such a hot day. Guests continued enjoying garden games and drinks in the courtyard until a saxophonist arrived to kick start the party.

Couple portraits at Waxham Beach

In the early evening, one of their close friends drove the couple and me to Waxham Beach for portraits. The beach felt so peaceful, with barely anyone around. We captured some beautiful moments together, from strolling along the sand to an impromptu dip in the sea!

Back at Waxham Barn, Michael enjoyed a cigar with his groomsmen – one of my favourite moments was when Emma joined in! By this point, the photo booth was in full swing and everyone was throwing shapes on the dance floor. After cutting the cake and sharing their first dance to Metallica, the vibe went up a notch from classic rock to heavy metal. Emma and Michael headbanged on the dance floor and everyone partied the night away. It was the perfect alternative wedding at Waxham Barn!

“Words cannot begin to describe how incredible Hannah was. Her talent for capturing the most incredible shots and especially candid, go beyond words. I knew we couldn’t have anyone else!
Hannah worked tirelessly to capture the whole day. Running back and forth for both morning preps, to well past the first dance. She got it all. We are unbelievably happy with her photography, I cry every time I look at the photos. The emotion, love, laughter, she caught it all, with such detail, it brings it all back!

I feel all the love
from the day, when I look at our photos. And as someone who has never been confident – she made me feel beautiful.
Not only is Hannah
an amazing wedding photographer, she makes everyone feel comfortable. Hannah is friendly, and professional – she really is worth her weight in gold. I urge everyone to book Hannah and I rave about her, all the time.

Thank you Hannah, from the bottom of our hearts. Again, words cannot express how much these photos mean to us. We will be eternally grateful for them. They’re not just photographs, they’re memories we’ll cherish forever.
Thank you!

Emma, your kind words mean the world to me. I feel so lucky to be part of your fun wedding day. Thank you so much for having me. x
